My Story

I can still remember how it started. I was five years old when I practiced drawing Wilma Flintstone, and I knew then that I wanted to be an artist! After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York with a BFA in Graphic Design and Advertising, I designed magazines at Scholastic and Time Warner, as well as freelanced for The New York Times, Macy’s and the NY Daily News. Raising my three daughters took me away from the corporate world, but art continued in my day to day. From hand painting their sneakers and bows, to designing the best birthday cakes, party and decor, and on to always helping them with any art project I could, my passion never wavered.

Eventually, I started a hand-painted children’s boutique called Alphabet Soup. This was followed by Creative Events, an event planning business where I created table scapes and decor for private parties and businesses. More recently, I taught art to adults and children, both in-studio and at large offsite corporate events, with my award winning company The Paint Party Studio. Covid put an end to my business, but had me thinking about what I truly want in life - I’ve always wanted to just paint all day, for myself. In December 2021, I moved to Portland to help care for my granddaughter - another wonderful opportunity! By day, I am “Mimi”, watching this beautiful child grow. I enjoy seeing the carefree thinking in her eyes, and at night I think about the freedom she has to explore and I express that in my art. I am excited to share my art with the Portland community and pass along the notion of following what you’ve “always wanted to do” too!
